Q&A: How much does a vegan diet benifit you and your body?

Question by : How much does a vegan diet benifit you and your body?
I’ve recently gone on a vegan diet and its been 4 days. I havent lost any weight, and I dont feel that much more energetic though my skin looks healthier. Have you been on a vegan diet? If yes then please tell me all about what you went through and how much difference it made. If you havent been on a vegan diet but know something about it, then do share.

I’ve done the vegan thing two times. Each time I went for about a few months. It was out of curiosity and interest. But I didn’t stay on it. I did feel energetic but I wasn’t sure what the longer term effects would be. As in years.

Don’t forget the benefits that meat has. We absorb iron from red meat better than most vegetables with iron. Egg whites are a superb source of protein. We get protein from egg whites best when they’re cooked. Canned sardines are great for protein and calcium. And sardines are low on the food chain so they have little if any traces of supposed mercury pollution.

Question by saddison2004: How can my cholesterol be very high if I eat a vegan diet?
I just found out that my cholesterol is in the highest category, including the LDL cholesterol. I am 25 years old, a normal weight, and I have been a vegetarian (but very close to a vegan) for most of my life. I am very upset and confused. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

*Leave on and read the annotations for this post: they are important for this video! **Remember to eat well-balanced meals from the whole spectrum of colors of veggies, fruits, nuts, legumes, soy products, wheat and whole grains, and other non-animal sources if you are a Vegan or Vegetarian, as well as take a good mulitvitamin. Diet and nutrition take research, time, and energy. ***Again I am not a Doctor, a Registered Dietitian, nor a Licensed Nutritionist, I do not have the accredition to be a food mentor–I am just an individual explaining my experience with Veganism, my diet, and exercise. Definition of Vegan: “[T]he word “veganism” denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.” (from the Vegan Society–I don’t know who this society is, but this is what wikipedia gave me.) My definition of Vegan: Someone who does not exploit, kill, harm, eat, or use animals for their own life or personal gain–one who does not eat any animal products including meat, eggs, poulty, fish, diary, honey (if you have a question about this one–google honeybees and understand why honeybees are so
