Lower High Blood Pressure With Herbal Remedies

Article by Dr Andrew Napier

Blood pressure is the measure of pressure exerted by blood on the artery walls, as heart pumps blood in to the arteries to be carried forward to the other vital organs of body. Our heart is always at work, receiving impure blood, purifying it and supplying the other organs of body with pure oxygenated blood.

The circulation of blood from heart to other organs takes place by means of blood vessels called arteries. When blood travels through arteries, it exerts certain pressure on artery walls. The normal blood pressure is around 120/80 mm (millimeters of mercury). When there is an elevation in pressure, it is called high blood pressure or hypertension in medical terminology.

Pre-hypertension readings are around 139/89 mm. BP, beyond 140/90 mm is considered as really high BP. It needs stern timely management, or else it can cause serious damage to heart leading to cardiovascular disorders, heart failure, peripheral artery disease, hardening of artery walls or arteriosclerosis. Consistent high blood pressure may also cause renal failures, brain damage and various other complications.

BP is measured with the help of a pressure cuff, and the upper number or systolic pressure is the pressure of blood on arteries when heart contracts and pumps blood forward in to arteries. The lower number or diastolic pressure indicates the pressure of blood on arteries, when heart relaxes after contraction.

Home Remedies for Thyroid Disease

Article by Bakhru

The only real treatment for thyroid disease, whether hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism or any other condition of thyroid gland, is cleansing of the system and adoption of a rational diet thereafter, combined with adequate rest and relaxation. To begin with, juices of fruits such as orange, apple, pineapple, and grapes may be taken every two or three hours from 8 am to 8 pm for five days. The bowels should be cleaned daily with lukewarm water. After the juice fast, the patient may spend further three days on fruits and milk, taking three meals a day of juicy fruits such as apple, pineapple, grapes, papaya, with a glass of milk, at five hourly intervals. Thereafter, the patient may adopt a well-balanced diet consisting of seeds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits. The patient should take plenty of rest and spend a day in bed every week for the first two months of the treatment. More and more exercise should be taken after the symptoms subside.

The appetite of the thyroid patient is usually very large and the weight reduction cannot be prevented for some time. This is because until the heart beat slows down and the tremors stop, there will be incomplete assimilation of good. But as soon as the balance is restored, weight will slowly increase. To help the absorption of food, a narrow waist compress and, later, a neck compress should be worn for five nights a week. As weight increases, the almost constant hunger will gradually disappear, on no account should any stimulants be administered to create an appetite.Certain foods and fluids are extremely injurious for thyroid patients and should be avoided by them. These include white flour products, white sugar, flesh foods, fried or greasy foods, preserves, condiments, tea, coffee and alcohol. No drugs should be taken as they cause irritation in the tissues. Iodine is undoubtedly most helpful in many cases, but it should be introduced in organic form all foods containing iodine should be taken liberally. These are asparagus, cabbage, garlic, onion, oats, pineapple, whole rice, tomatoes, watercress and strawberries.

Great care must be taken never to allow the body to become exhausted and any irritation likely to cause emotional upset should be avoided. The cure of thyroid disease is not a speedy one and there is often a recurrence of symptoms but these should gradually become less pronounced. Strict adherence to diet is essential for complete cure.

Half the daily intake of food should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables and the starch element should be confined to whole wheat products and potatoes. Potatoes are the most valuable form of starch. They should preferably be taken in their jackets. The protein foods should be confined to cheese, peas, beans lentils and nuts. All fresh proteins must be avoided. The diet outlined here should be strictly adhered to for a year and the compresses on neck and waist applied for five consecutive nights in a week for two months and discontinued for one month. Water treatments should be taken to increase skin elimination. Application of sponge to the entire body before retiring and a cold sponge on rising will be very helpful. It is most important that the bowels are kept working efficiently to avoid danger of a toxic condition of the blood arising from that source. All efforts should be made to prevent emotional stress. There may be slight recurrence of this extremely nervous complain for some times, but the attacks will become less severe and of shorter duration as the treatment progresses. And above all, there must be no lessening of the patient’s efforts to help himself because success can only be attained by assiduous efforts.

Controlling High Blood Pressure – Causes and Remedies

Article by Simon Foster

The first step to controlling high blood pressure is to know the cause.

Officially the cause of 90% of high blood pressure is “unknown”. But no worries. The actual causes of hypertension are well known. What the official position means is that hypertension can’t be ascribed to one single cause.

When we examine the actual statistics and our own personal experiences then controlling high blood pressure by determining and treating the causes is the way forward.

Below are the five main causes of high blood pressure.

Our Modern Diet.

That frozen take-home meal may taste great, not to mention fast and convenient. It might also be slowly killing us. I’m talking about highly processed foods full of saturated fats, trans-fats, salt, etc. Over time all these unnecessary additives clog up our system and increase our blood pressure. These days we are literally eating ourselves to death.

The good news is that there are all sorts of delicious alternatives. Better yet, you can control your high blood pressure by switching to a healthy and tasty diet. Over time this can reverse the effects of of a bad diet that caused high blood pressure in the first place.

Lack of Exercise.

Unfortunately, the comforts of modern lifestyles brings with it a new set of problems. Raised blood pressure due to lack of exercise is one of them. Controlling high blood pressure through daily exercise is a simple and easy to implement remedy.

High blood pressure caused by Stress.

Modern life and stress seems to go hand in hand. It is often invisible but seeps into our life nevertheless, raising our blood pressure and shortening our lives.

If there’s too much stress in your life there are ways to relief it and see it off. Stress reducing techniques (such as slow breathing exercises) have now been accepted as valid approach to controlling high blood pressure by mainstream medicine.

Genetics.

Some families suffer from high blood pressure more than others. It’s called genetics. If your parents suffer from high blood pressure then there’s a greater chance of you developing it too.

But that doesn’t mean its your fate to suffer from high blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure ‘in the genes’ it simply means that you have to put more effort into controlling high blood pressure.

Aging.

As we get older our blood circulatory system ages with us. Our veins tend to get smaller and harder. The medical establishment calls it atherosclerosis..

This used to be taken into consideration when determining health blood pressure. Systolic 100 plus your age was considered OK. Not anymore. 120/80 is now the blood pressure shoe size that’s supposed to fit everyone

There is nothing we can do about getting older but there’s things we can do to slow down the effects of time and controlling high blood pressure.

So these are the five main causes causes of high blood pressure.

Controlling high blood pressure caused by the first three causes is reasonably straightforward. Changing our diet, start exercising and reducing stress levels.

Controlling high blood pressure caused by aging can be accomplished by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Also, powerful antioxidants are now available which can slow or even reverse the effects of age.

Hypertension due to genetics cannot be ‘cured’ but it can be controlled. Having high blood pressure in the family doesn’t mean you are doomed. It does mean however, that you’ll have to work harder at controlling high blood pressure and keeping it within a healthy range.

Natural Remedies Enlarged Prostate Part 1

www.balancedhealthtoday.com www.balancedhealthtoday.com Treatment may involve antibiotics, medications to shrink or relax the prostate or bladder, soaking in a warm tub of water and frequent ejaculation. The goal is to avoid reaching the point of urinary retention, where one cant urinate at all. Patients suffering from an enlarged prostate and who do not have kidney inflammation, damage or serious infection will have to decide which option recommended by their doctor suits them best. Sometimes men may take antibiotics for a long period of time without any true benefit. In fact, many of these conditions are not infections but simply muscle spasms involving the prostate and surrounding tissue. This is a condition called prostatosis or prostadynia. Treatment for this includes muscle relaxants and warm baths. Hytrin or Cardura, typically used for high blood pressure are also muscle relaxants and have been shown to be successful. These days, however, Flowmax or Uroxitrol are more often prescribed. There are many clinically proven natural herbal and homeopathic remedies that have been shown to promote prostate health in a natural manner without harmful side effects. Certain herbs such as Epilobium parviflorum have been shown to have an inflammation-inhibiting and healing effect on acute and chronic inflammation of the prostate and BPH.
