What area of the back would you suffer with pain in the case of an ectopic pregnancy?

Question by Jen Jen: What area of the back would you suffer with pain in the case of an ectopic pregnancy?
My period arrived 6 days late and when it did, I had a normal flow for the first day only and then brown spotting for a week after. I have now suffered from menstrual-like cramps for 3 weeks and woke up today with bad back pain that hurts on my right side, roughly waist height. I have had urine and blood tests which came back negative. In the case of an ectopic pregnancy, would my back pain be lower? Thank you for any help you can offer!

Can your digestive tract speed up during pregnancy?

Question by Mandi Broun: Can your digestive tract speed up during pregnancy?
I’ve been having a lot of lower digestive problems, like (excuse me for being icky) diarrhea and stuff. Havent changed my eating habits or anything and I was wondering if being pregnant can speed up your digestive tract. I know it can slow it down and make you constipated but can it speed it up?

It’s not necessarily that your digestive tract speeds up but typically due to hormonal changes, you’ll get diarrhea during pregnancy. I’ve had more of a problem with diarrhea than I have constipation. Any time you have a surge in hormones that your body isn’t used to, diarrhea can be the result. I remember when I stopped taking birth control last year, I had severe diarrhea for about 2 weeks. It was just because of the hormone swap. You’re welcome to take Immodium during pregnancy if you need to. If your diarrhea is severe, you need to see your doctor to make sure you don’t get dehydrated. Good luck!

Pregnancy back pain plus bowel disease making work especially hard. How do people cope?

Question by darkprincess: Pregnancy back pain plus bowel disease making work especially hard. How do people cope?
I’m only 19 months pregnant and I’m already suffering from bad back pain. I also have Ulcerative Colitis that is making life/work so much harder. How do women cope? Do you just carry on and try to be tough or get a doctor to sign you off work?

I assume you mean 19 weeks. If you have bad back pain already at 19 weeks, either it is caused by what you are sitting in, or possibly a kidney infection. You need to look at your posture in various chairs to see if adding a pillow support will help.

I had very bad back pain (not pregnant) for a very long time. Finally went to a chiropractor and his suggestion to adjust what I sit in made all the world of difference. I haven’t had back problems since. A lot of modern furniture is bad for the back.

How much back pain is normal after pregnancy before getting concerned?

Question by єναη αη∂ ℓуяα’ѕ мσм: How much back pain is normal after pregnancy before getting concerned?
My son is 4 months old, and I still have horrible back pain at times. Most of the time it’s a dull ache across my whole lower back, but at other times, it locks up completely and I can barely move.

Is this normal, and if so, when can I expect it to go away?

I did have an epidural, about 5 monutes before they decided to do a c-section, so it was really pointless. The pain is not in the same spot that they put the needle in.

Can high blood pressure during pregnancy make you gain weight and swell?

Question by KY WILDCAT: Can high blood pressure during pregnancy make you gain weight and swell?
Ok, so during my pregnancy I’ve had high blood pressure, and when my blood pressure is high, my hands and feet swell, and I’ve also gained almost 60 lbs so far (im 37 weeks)

My doctor just up’d my high blood pressure meds, and it seems as if the swelling has gone down whenever I take them and my weight gain has also slowed. I would just like a little insight on this! Thanks in advance!

Sounds like it could be preeclampsia.
