Article by Sara Jenkins

Medicine and High Blood Pressure are interdependent. The kind of medicine to be taken for High Blood Pressure is not a single route to be followed. The dosage and the kind of medicine to be taken depend on the level of High Blood Pressure that a patient is suffering from. Initially, the medicine for patients with just a small rise above the normal blood pressure level is Diuretics. These High Blood Pressure Medicines work on the kidneys and flush out excess water and sodium from the body. In the next higher stage, the High Blood Pressure Medicine consists of beta blockers. This medicine for High Blood Pressure reduces nerve impulses to the heart and blood vessels. Because of its functions, this High Blood Pressure Medicine is known as Beta Blocker. If there is a narrowing of blood vessels, then the choice of High Blood Pressure Medicine is an Angio Tensin Converting Enzyme. This prevents the formation of the hormone angiotensinII and prevents the narrowing of blood vessels. Another course of medication for High Blood Pressure consists of Angiotensin Antagonists. These High Blood Pressure Medicines shield blood vessels from making angiotensin and widen blood vessels to subsequently lower blood pressure. In the next category of High Blood Pressure Medicine, there are the Calcium Channel Blockers. This medicine for High Blood Pressure process keeps calcium from entering the muscle cells of the heart and the blood vessels. These channel blockers are in the category of alpha blockers and beta blockers. The alpha blockers reduce impulses to the blood vessels. This allows the blood to pass without restrictions through the blood vessels and thus helps the blood pressure to go down. The beta blockers used for high blood pressure medicine also slow down the heart beat. In yet another category of medicine for high blood pressure, there are the Nervous System Inhibitors. They inhibit heart and relax blood vessels by controlling nerve impulses. Doctors also use Vasodilators as High Blood Pressure Medicication in the final stage. These medicines for High Blood Pressure directly open blood vessels and allow the blood pressure to be lowered. Combining this medication and High Blood Pressure with the right lifestyle can be very helpful.

Alternative medicine cervical cancer prevention

Article by Elizabeth

Cervical cancer is the second-most common cancer in young women and is one of the most common causes of cancer deaths among women, particularly in minorities and in impoverished countries. Like all cancers, cancer of the cervix is much more likely to be cured if it is detected early and treated immediately at its initial stage with the alternative medicine through natural medications with no side effects at our center. Cancer of the cervix occurs when the cells of the cervix change in a way that leads to abnormal growth and invasion of other tissues or organs of the body.It is caused primarily by a sexually transmitted infection with an oncogenic strain of the human papillomavirus (HPV). Studies have shown dietary intervention and nutrient supplementation to be effective in preventing cervical cancer. Additionally, local escharotic treatment combined with systemic treatment shows significant potential in reducing dysplasia

Cancer that forms in tissues of the cervix (organ connecting the uterus and vagina). It is usually a slow-growing cancer that may not have symptoms, but can be found with regular Pap smears (procedure in which cells are scraped from the cervix and looked at under a microscope).

The uterine cervix is the lowest portion of a woman’s uterus (womb). Most of the uterus lies in the pelvis, but part of the cervix is located in the vagina, where it connects the uterus with the vagina. * One of the key features of cervical cancer is its slow progression from normal cervical tissue, to precancerous (or dysplastic) changes in the tissue, to invasive cancer. * The slow progression through numerous precancerous changes is very important because it provides opportunities for prevention and early detection and treatment.

Other possible risk factors include the following: * Giving birth to many children. * Having many sexual partners. * Having first sexual intercourse at a young age. * Smoking cigarettes. * Oral contraceptive use (the Pill). * Weakened immune system.

Cervical cancers don’t always spread, but those that do most often spread to the lungs, the liver, the bladder, the vagina, and/or the rectum.

Self-treatment is not appropriate for cancer under most circumstances. Without medical treatment, the cancer will continue to grow and spread. Eventually vital body organs will not be able to function properly because the cancer will take their oxygen and nutrients, crowd them out, or injure them. The result is very often death.

Although self-treatment is inappropriate, there are things you can do to reduce the physical and mental stresses of your cancer and its treatment.

Maintaining good nutrition is one of the best things you can do. * You may lose your appetite during your treatment. * Common side effects * People who eat well, take in enough calories and protein. * keeping up your calorie and protein intake.

The following lifestyle changes may help keep you stronger and more comfortable during treatment: * Engage in mild physical activity * Rest is equally important * Quit smoking. * Avoid alcohol.

Treatment of cervical cancer is directed at preventing precancerous cells from becoming cancerous cells. * This is usually a step-by-step process * The deepest cells must be removed Cervical cancer begins with abnormal changes in the cervical tissue. The risk of developing these abnormal changes has been associated with certain factors, including previous infection with human papilloma virus (HPV), early sexual contact, multiple sexual partners, cigarette smoking and taking oral contraceptives (birth control pills).

Treatment of cervical cancer is directed at preventing precancerous cells from becoming cancerous cells. The key to preventing invasive cervical cancer is to detect any cell changes early, before they become cancerous. Regular pelvic examinations and Pap smears are the best way to do this.

Avoidance of human papillomavirus infection is becoming increasingly important in the prevention of precancerous and cancerous changes of the cervix. * Early age at first intercourse is associated with increased risk * Likewise, barrier protection, such as condom use, may prevent HPV infection, although this has not yet been fully studied. * Early tests found an experimental vaccine to be effective against the virus responsible for half of all cases of cervical cancer. *. Quitting smoking may decrease your chances of developing cervical cancer. * Genetic material that comes from certain forms of HPV has been found in cervical tissues that show cancerous or precancerous changes. * These findings demonstrate a strong link between the virus and cervical cancer. * Because HPV can be transmitted by sexual contact, early sexual contact and having multiple sexual partners have been identified as strong risk factors for the development of cervical lesions that may progress to cancer.

Possible signs of cervical cancer include vaginal bleeding and pelvic pain. These and other symptoms may be caused by cervical cancer. Other conditions may cause the same symptoms. A doctor should be consulted if any of the following problems occur: * Vaginal bleeding. * Unusual vaginal discharge. * Pelvic pain. * Pain during sexual intercourse.

Tests that examine the cervix are used to detect (find) and diagnose cervical cancer. Certain factors affect prognosis (chance of recovery) and treatment options.

Treatment options depend on the following: * The stage of the cancer. * The size of the tumor. * The patient’s desire to have children. * The patient

Can You Manage Thyroid Disease With Alternative Medicine?

If the person has a goiter on their thyroid, they may need and want a plastic surgeon to remove the goiter as part of the treatment. This would be a very rare case. Most cases of thyroid disease can be improved and treated with some form of alternative medicine.

The most serious type of thyroid disease is Hashimoto’s disease. This is an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system is in overdrive and attacks the thyroid gland. The natural treatment for this and other forms of autoimmune disease is to take large quantities of the amino acid NAC or N-acetyl-cysteine. It is anti-aging and fights the build up of free radicals in the body. It needs selenium and Vitamin E present for complete assimilation in the body. This amino acid is very good for your liver. Tyrosine is another amino acid that helps your thyroid gland.

Treating and healing thyroid disease with alternative medicine therapy, acupuncture, herbs, Orthomolecular Medicine, animal glandular supplements, and bio-identical hormones is possible. Amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and botanicals are affordable and are used in therapeutic doses much larger than those levels normally found in nature. The concept of orthomolecular medicine is based upon the use of very large doses of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, or botanical extracts for cellular repair. Alternative Medicine encompasses many therapies which may benefit those people with thyroid disease.

Porcine thyroid gland or desiccated thyroid can be found in prescription medications like Armour thyroid, Nathroid, and Westhroid. Enzymatic Therapy makes a product that is organic thyroid glandular supplement. There are several organic brands available and they come in bovine and porcine forms. These are quite affordable and should be taken on a long term basis. Low thyroid can result in other health problems including secondary infections like sinus or bronchitis, brain fog, concentration problems, poor memory, infertility issues, fatigue, depression, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and weight issues. Long term thyroid problems often overtax the adrenal glands. There may be a need to support the adrenal function with an adrenal glandular product for three months.

Chinese medicine is very good at treating thyroid disease. Acupuncture and moxa can be used to treat low thyroid. Chinese herbal patent formulas to treat low thyroid or hypothyroid include Tou Gui Wan, Si Ni Tang, and Zhen Wu Tang. This therapy will be required for at least several months to balance your endocrine system. Orthomolecular medicine can also treat hypothyroid with Ginseng, Reishi, royal jelly, peony, ginger, astragulus, and ashwaganda.

Chinese Herbal Formulas are good for treating hyperthyroid excess of Yang with Yin Deficient Heat. The patent formulas for high thyroid include Liu Wei Di Huang Wan, Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan, and Zhi Zi Qing Gan Tang. Chinese medicine focuses on the heart and kidney to treat thyroid disease. Acupuncture is wonderful at calming the hyperactive symptoms of hyperthyroid disease. Orthomolecular medicine can also use Kava, St John’s Wort, and valerian to treat hyperthyroid disease.

Dietary changes may be very important in helping manage thyroid disorders. Include kelp and fresh seaweed in your diet along with cold water fish at least three times per week. Avoid foods that have MSG and food additives. Reduce nicotine and alcohol in your diet and increase fresh juice. Fresh watermelon juice and spinach juice are very healthy choices. Increase foods that are high in potassium. Do not eat very large quantities of kale, brussel sprouts, or other cruciferous vegetables.

Orthomolecular medicine uses several supplements for improving thyroid function including zinc, Vitamin E, selenium, Vitamin C, iodine, and B Vitamins. Single herbs, amino acids, and herbal formulas need the proper nutrients as cofactors to properly treat the symptoms.

Ayurvedic Medicine For Optimizing Cardiovascular Health

Contributed by: (www.india-herbs.com) Cardiovascular disease refers to the class of diseases that involve the heart and blood vessels (arteries and veins). While the term technically refers to any disease that affects the cardiovascular system, it is usually used to refer to those related to atherosclerosis (arterial disease). These conditions have similar causes, mechanisms, and treatments. In practice, cardiovascular disease is treated by cardiologists, thoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, neurologists, and interventional radiologists, depending on the organ system that is being treated. There is considerable overlap in the specialties, and it is common for certain procedures to be performed by different types of specialists in the same hospital. Most Western countries face high and increasing rates of cardiovascular disease. Each year, heart disease kills more Americans than cancer. Diseases of the heart alone caused 30% of all deaths, with other diseases of the cardiovascular system causing substantial further death and disability. It is the number 1 cause of death and disability in the United States and most European countries. A large histological study (PDAY) showed vascular injury accumulates from adolescence, making primary prevention efforts necessary from childhood. By the time that heart problems are detected, the underlying cause (atherosclerosis) is usually quite advanced, having progressed for decades. There is therefore increased emphasis on preventing

www.encognitive.com Natural Medicine Leads to Real Cures In contrast, the philosophy of natural medicine holds that a weakened immune system (and along with other weakened bodily systems) is the reason foreign invaders can thrive, producing symptoms and diseases. Most of us are taught that we need to go to medical doctors when we get sick. What we aren’t taught is that the real doctor is already within us as the innate wisdom of the body. This is the difference between conventional allopathic systems and natural holistic medicine systems. The philosophy of natural medicine is that, given the right conditions, the body will heal itself. Whereas the allopathic model tries to control defective body systems through drug intervention, or kill foreign invaders with antibiotics, natural medicine rarely includes toxic agents. Instead, herbs, homeopathic remedies and other non-invasive therapies are used. These techniques harmoniously help facilitate the repair and strengthening of bodily systems (especially the immune system, which can then properly fight foreign invaders), or help to destroy offending pathogens without toxic side effects. The goal of natural medicine is to figure out why systems have weakened and then repair them, which results in healing. Allopathic Medicine—Symptom/Disease Management The allopathic medical philosophy taught at most medical schools, and practiced by the majority of medical doctors, relies on the concept of identifying diseases or symptoms, and
