Blood in the body carries oxygen and other major nutrients to all parts of the body. The blood passes through arteries due to the pumping action of the heart. This makes the blood pressure in the body.
The force exerted by the blood on the walls of the blood vessels when it is passing through them is known as blood pressure. When there is high blood pressure the arteries lose their flexibility and become stiff.
The major symptoms of the high blood pressure are

Black outs.
The major causes of the high blood pressure are
Changes in lifestyle
Being overweight
Lack of physical activity
Improper meals
The main cause of High blood pressure is Hypertension
The normal blood pressure range is 120/80mm of Hg. The blood pressure in the range 120/80 to 139/89 is known as pre hyper tension range. The blood pressure range above 140/90 is normally known as high blood pressure.
Here there are two figures to note the Blood pressure of a person. The first figure is known as systolic pressure and the second figure is known as diastolic pressure. The top figure denotes the pressure in the arteries as the blood is pumped when the heart contracts.
The lowest pressure in the blood vessels corresponds to diastolic pressure.
The major complications of high blood pressure are heart diseases, kidney diseases, rigidness in arteries and stroke.
To maintain the blood pressure in the normal range the following thing are to be done.
Stop smoking
Diet should be low in cholesterol content and salt content
Avoid alcohol consumption
Exercise should be done moderately on daily basis
Maintaining the weight
Most of the times the symptoms of the high blood pressure go unnoticed the only best way to know the high blood pressure are to get tested.
High blood pressure in ignored cases leads to life threatening complications. High blood pressure in a person for a longer tenure causes atherosclerosis where the arteries become hard and fats are deposited in the arteries.
Higher blood pressure people may have chest pain, difficulty in breathing, and symptoms which corresponds to heart diseases. Due to hyper tension the heart work more and the muscles of heart enlarge and cause inefficient pumping of blood.

Hypertension or High blood pressure (HBP) means high pressure (tension) in the arteries. Arteries are vessels that carry blood from the pump heart to all the tissues and organs of the body. High blood pressure, or hypertension, is often characterized as the silent killer–and for good reason. Although it affects an estimated one in five North Americans, many people don’t experience any symptoms. As a result, less than one-quarter of sufferers actually receive treatment. Left untreated, however, it can severely damage the cardiovascular system, leading to death from stroke, heart attack or kidney failure.
