I&#8217;ve recently gone on a vegan diet and its been 4 days. I havent lost any weight, and I dont feel that much more energetic though my skin looks healthier. Have you been on a vegan diet? If yes then please tell me all about what you went through and how much difference it made. If you havent been on a vegan diet but know something about it, then do share.</p>

<p><i>Answer by Final H</i><br/>I&#8217;ve done the vegan thing two times. Each time I went for about a few months. It was out of curiosity and interest. But I didn&#8217;t stay on it. I did feel energetic but I wasn&#8217;t sure what the longer term effects would be. As in years.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t forget the benefits that meat has. We absorb iron from red meat better than most vegetables with iron. Egg whites are a superb source of protein. We get protein from egg whites best when they&#8217;re cooked. Canned sardines are great for protein and calcium. And sardines are low on the food chain so they have little if any traces of supposed mercury pollution.</p>

I need to lose 20 pounds by summer and I need a easy diet plan to follow.  I work 2 jobs and don&#8217;t have a lot of time to prep food.  I&#8217;d like a diet plan that uses minimal processed foods and doesn&#8217;t take a long time to prepare.  Has anyone found a diet plan that works for them?  I will be incorporating some exercise as well, but I have a knee injury that prevents me from doing anything with much impact.</p>

<p><i>Answer by .^.</i><br/>okay, to get into shape , rid yourself of excess fat and lose weight ,,,,,do as follows:</p>
<p>Stop drinking &#038; smoking (if you do this regularly)<br />
eat fruits &#038; vegetables all you can (buy a food/rice steamer to make it easy on you)&#8230;(vegetables are not tasty, like junk foods,, but can be as you aquire your taste to them..and are loaded with energy and nutrients)&#8230;avoid all junk food, cokes, sweets, etc&#8230;and drink water . If you eat meat ,,eat only steamed fish or chicken.</p>
<p>also, do an hour of walking each day at least. or some type of excercise.</p>
<p>* you should lose about 10 lbs per month</p>

I know eating poorly and not exercising can lead to a build up of cholesterol and plaque in your heart&#8217;s arteries.  I am just curious if one starts a diet and exercise program after a bunch of cholesterol has built up, will the build-up go away or is it there forever (other than surgery)?</p>

<p><i>Answer by susan o</i><br/>Of course it will at least decrease if you have a drastic change in diet.<br />
Or, you could take cholesterol lowering medicines and possibly damage your liver.<br />
There is no surgery that removes arterial deposits.<br />
Exercise helps some but diet is what really does the job. Simply avoid fatty foods like dairy products (milk, cheese, butter). Personally, I&#8217;m 65 and have no intention of stopping dairy. I love pastries and chocolates.<br />
The body is designed to handle a certain amount of cholesterol, everyone has SOME cholesterol and it DOES have it&#8217;s job to do.</p>
