hey, ive done a couple of these repairs on engines but have never come across one of these engines, makes me want to just find or buy one just to see if its as easy as it looks.

on most engines the exhaust valve has more tappet clearance because of the expansion of the exhaust valve stem

Rockin Dave, once again u have proven your value as a small engine technician. Your discussion of that mysterious “extra bump” on the exhaust cam lobe was just what I needed. I noticed this on my Tecumseh 5 hp. I shortened valve, now it pulls hard as heck to start, thought I was hallucenating, u cleared up a rarely spoken of aspect of small engines, I never dreamed of or heard of this, it is not a malfunction, it makes engine rope pull much easier, now I need to replace that valve to length.

i thought there were bearing in the conecting rod were it meets the crank
