Michael Phelps ‘ diet (12,000 calories a day)
Michael Phelps’ recent tabulation of his daily meals conjured up an image of reckless abandon: 2 pounds of pasta, an entire pizza, energy drinks, two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelet, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast with powdered sugar, three fried-egg sandwiches with cheese and chocolate chip pancakes. The account left many asking, what do Olympians really eat?

to him thats like and average persons meal

It’s not that he excercises that much.. not the way you look at it..
He’s been excercising for god knows how long… swimming probably EVERYDAY…. after a while your metabolism becomes so crazy, that after you eat a normal meal(600-1000) cals… your hungry hour later..
If average person did this diet they would get reeaaaallly fat

No, he is eating carbs- not high fat or high fat cholesterol
so no, it has nothing to do with causing a heart attack
March 9th, 2010 at 8:27 am
so my question is this, any normal human that eats that typa diet for a year will probably get a heart attack soon, but is it because he excercises so much that its ok to just eat whatever food he wants and not have to worry about plaque buildup in his arteries? So if I excercised a lot , i can eat whatever I want too?

@iluvvmusic101 you sir, have a firm grasp of the obvious
March 9th, 2010 at 10:04 am
well when he retires obviously he wont be burning the calories AND he will eat less due to that. He only eats like this when he is training
March 9th, 2010 at 11:04 am
I have a true concern. I mean, if you ate that amount of food and burned it away after every work-out, what nutrients do you keep? What I’m actually asking is how long can a body -even a perfect machine like his- keep up with all that work? Cells still get old…

i bet some fat dude is watching this unamused, because he eats way more… no hate or making fun of fat people
March 9th, 2010 at 11:42 am
what i have always said in the past is that you can eat whatever you want as long as you exercise and burn the shit off it makes perfect sense if micheal phelps someone who worksout like a maniac he has to eat protein carbs etc. if he didnt it would be impossible for him to have enough energy the next day. after watching this makes me want start tripling my regular exercise routines so i can now eat more of what i like ………lol

As a person who trains and who is extremely active , then there body will naturally want more food. So imagine how much Phelps works out.
March 9th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
i wanna be a swimmer now
March 9th, 2010 at 4:03 pm
yikes i don’t want to even think about what i would look like if i had 12,000 calories a day! it’s difficult to process how hard olympic athletes really work.
March 9th, 2010 at 4:29 pm
Exactly.
People eat like beasts, don’t exercise, and end up looking like fat beasts!
March 9th, 2010 at 5:20 pm
along with all the training he does phelps must have a really high metabalism because he aint fat.. i mean i swim 5 times a week for an hour and a half but if i eat too much u could see i gained weight
March 9th, 2010 at 5:23 pm
“Very athletic”? Sure, buddy. You don’t know how beastly Phelps trains. It would probably make your exercise look like a nice, slow walk in the park.
