Medical Massage For Hypertension

You can purchase the entire DVD at medicalmassage-edu.com Hypertension, Dizziness, Headaches, & Worsening of Vision (secondary to Vertebral Artery Syndrome) Greater Occipital Neuralgia, Neck Rehabilitative Exercises. First, let’s quickly review how medical massage therapy affects the arterial blood pressure in patients with EH. There are three major mechanisms which massage practitioners should use to help patients with hypertension: Balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions of the autonomic nervous system, vasodilate the vertebral arteries and reduce peripheral vascular resistance. These three mechanisms are intimately correlated, hence the need to discuss them together as parts of the same process. Vertebral arteries arise from the subclavian arteries. They ascend through the cervical vertebrae and enter the skull where they unite to form the basilar artery, supplying the posterior part of the brain. The vertebral arteries also give off two important arterial branches that supply the entire spinal cord: The anterior spinal artery and two posterior spinal arteries. The pathway of the vertebral arteries through the cervical vertebrae is quite complex. The transverse process of each cervical vertebra has a special opening called the transverse foramen through which the vertebral artery passes. Cervical vertebrae are positioned on top of one another such that these openings form a bony canal through which the vertebral arteries ascend. The walls of vertebral

When you state: ”which will increase blood flow and which is NOT what you want to do.” you must explain what does it mean “increase blood flow” and why the outcome of it will be bad. Also expressing a professional opinion a person must do a research on the subject. For example: visit the website of person who you’re trying to challenge and read an article on the subject. Maybe then the comment could be avoided because you would actually know more.
    Best wishes.

@Procrastinater09 Thank you for comment. Since you are a student I would like to teach you norms of professional discussion which are: when you make a statement:” not to do long strokes for people with hypertension” you must explain why not to do so. When you stating:” On top of it your rhythm is too fast” you must explain what frequency of performances should there be and why?

I’m in the RMT program and we were taught not to do long strokes for people with hypertension. On top of it your rhythm is too fast which will increase blood flow which is NOT what you want to do. If you did that at the OSCE’s you would fail and never get your diploma. And your draping skills are terrible. Even your stance is bad.

    Dear butifarra61 .
your general advice is correct . I am demonstrating techniques on person who is very healthy and used to be professional athlet. however many statistics indicating that stress is the main cause for pandemic phenomena of essential hypertension and many people who not overweight and eating good not salty food are suffering from this dangerous diseases.
Thanks for good and educational comment.
    Best wishes.

sorry but the guy getting the massage should cut on fat and salt? He hardly has a neck due to some not so healthy diet. A massage can help but the hypertension will remain as long the bad diet is there. This individual should have more greens and fruits….less salt and fatty food? thanks.

I actually had a question if you’d indulge me; as a therapist do you find that you develop strains yourself by actually giving different massages? For example, your lower back, shoulders etc?

It just struck me watching this (again!) that being on your feet and applying pressure to varying massages might actually affect your own muscles as the masseur…

  17. mgaft1 Says:

    Dear TenakaKhan1981.
Thank you very much for kind words. very nice of you. no doubt if you will swim Atlantic you will require post event rehabilitative sports massage.LOL.
    Best wishes.

More than most videos about massage available online, you literally radiate professionalism and knowledge about the therapy. Extremely interesting stuff, great work, and really relaxing to watch too. You’re a legend!

Now all I have to do is swim the Atlantic to get over there, i’ll probably require therapy at that point :)
