@lnbrnnn One thing to remember too is that most deli meats are high in carbs… so always go for the fresh meat sliced rather than the processed stuff like the hams etc. not sue why they have more carbs in… obviously todo with the stripping compacting and preserving process of processed meats I guess.

@lnbrnnn Hello… certain mayo’s are low in carb while some others are higher… at the end of the day the idea, for a diabetic, is to have a balanced controlled diet but also to be able to endulge yourself once in a while with fillings that you would normally keep away from as the bread plus the filling would be too much. For instance Bananas… 15 carbs for a good sized banana and then 15 carbs per slice of bread (2 of them) 45 carb lunch…. now remove bread and insert treats… yum yum

Interesting. I have the deli slice provolone extra thick and use that for “bread” but I have been craving real bread lately. Question – I don’t like carb quick or almond flour – could I substitute soy flour? I probably will. I will use olive oil too. It is all I keep anymore.

@JugglerPompeyPirates I am confused – most mayos I have used are zero to 2 carbs per tablespoon. I use Kraft – zero carbs, zero sugar – for sandwiches. For salads I opt for Kraft Olive Oil mayo. It 2 carbs but half the calories (45) and much less fat (4% vs 10%). Years ago I used Duke’s because it was the only one at the time that didn’t have sugar but there are lots more available now..

@mcrss26 Bacon is zero carbs… fatty yes but carb wise no worries… as for the mayo… yep it has carbs but being able to eat a tasty sarnie with a low carb count is piceless.

@LbsOfTech Low carb is what us Diabetics seek out. Bread is one of the highest carb food stuffs about apart from candies etc… so this is actually far from pointless.

low carb eh? Then you’re gonna put mayonnaise and bacon?
September 10th, 2010 at 11:47 pm
Any way to make this without CARBQUICK. Only available by mail order

Can I substitut carb quick with something else?
I live in Denmark so we don’t have it. If I can’t use anything else can I buy carb quick online?
Thanks!

That’s great but do they sell this already made? Just saying, sometimes a person with a busy schedule might want to just grab the bread and not have to microwave.

Just found your Pizza Crust video! Looks great! Want to try it but what glutenfree lowcarb substitute would you suggest to replace Carbquik in that recipe?
September 11th, 2010 at 4:44 am
Thanks for sharing this! I can’t use Carbquik (gluten) but w/your suggestion in vid was able to modify recipe using 1/3 c. Almond Meal and 1/3 c. Golden FlaxMeal (I used sprinkle of splenda to cut bitterness) Sticky dough but spreadable w/back of spoon dipped in cold water. Made a mini-pizza (eaten with fork) and my first cheese sandwich in ages! Delicious and so filling! Do you know how I would make this sturdier for a larger crust? (trying for more servings/less calorie dense)
