    You are right, heating olive oil is bad because it is the the most unstable oil for heating. I take everything Sean says with a grain of salt. He does know a lot of stuff, but often doesn’t look at the fine details or even contradicts himself in the same video.

    Why would you want to extract the oil out of a food? When the oil is within the food, it is protected. As soon as you extract it, there is immediate degradation of the oil. It doesn’t matter if it’s cold pressed or extracted. The natural antioxidants that are preventing the oil from spoiling in the food become damaged no matter how careful you are. Eat the WHOLE FOOD. Heating olive oil Sean? Yikes!

    @edstar83 sorry what i meant was cooking with olive oil. so we shouldn’t do that? that’s what all the governments are recommending and all the celebrity chefs are doing.

    @ToolsnFire heated oils are the problem. not necessarily vegetable oils. but really whole foods is where it’s at. it’s much better to eat a coconut rather than have the oil. as for any oil. and as for ‘animal’ fats and cholestorol, to each their own opinion. i don’t think either of us are wrong on that one. you can be healthy as a meat eater or a vegetarian. (as long as your livestock is well taken care of, and not consuming antibiotics)

    @jtreehugger, we absolutely need to consume ‘extra’ cholesterol to be most good-n-normal healthy. The quality of how the ‘animals for food’ are grown is important, such as grass fed and free range being prominent over the filthy stockyard and chicken factory house, though those ‘less than’ conditions can still be useful for the body. But for real, vegetable oils for a lot of people are not good food. The body reveals by indications. Be mindful of what your body indicates.

    @ToolsnFire i agree that animal products can be good for you in moderation, but too much cholestorol is definately a bad thing. that is the problem with saturated fats coming from animals. we produce our own cholestorol in our bodies, we don’t ‘need’ to consume any extra cholestorol.

    coconut oil is healthy. it’s saturated, but much different than saturated animal fats. it has no cholesterol.

    @younes0807 I didn’t do a video reply, but I just did a search for the video you mentioned, and wrote a five part rebuttal (because YouTube limits comments to 500 characters) in the comment section. I am waiting to see how many dogmatic Dr. Oz devotees, as well as those who blindly subscribe to the traditional dietary advice (limited calories/limited animal fat/limited saturated fat) will argue with me. I expect my inbox to be flooded in the next few days.

    The problem with modern nutritional advice can be seen in India. My grandparents and their forefathers, in India, mainly cooked with coconut oil or butter for most of their recorded history, and they lived well into their 80s, 90s,and beyond WITHOUT serious medical intervention. When my parent’s generation switched to the approved vegetable oils, all of a sudden Indians are experiencing an epidemic in heart disease in their 40s and 50s, and they need surgery and medication just to make it to 70.

    very impressed! You know your stuff! Veg oil is evil. Also, for those that have dairy intolerances, use ghee (clarified butter). You can cook at higher temperatures and it has a longer life!

    Why sound like it’s rare to find cold pressed oil? Virtually every brand of olive oil in the supermarket is cold pressed virgin olive oil, many of them 1st cold pressed.

    I love this video, but I have a question. What about the omega-3 oils derived from Flax and Chia seed? Are they safe? Also, what is the difference to the body by taking a seed-based omega-3 powder or taking pure cod liver oil?

    Finally, someone with some real, thinking information! I read about this stuff in the book ‘Deep Nutrition.’ available on amazon. I def recommend it to anyone who may want to read further on this issue.

    @lumberjak1984 Most people don’t use high enough heats to create an unstable environment for olive oil. You can cook with virgin/extra virgin olive oil. In fact it is possible to deep fry with olive oil Restaurants don’t do this because it’s too expensive.

    People in Israel eat the most poly-unsaturated cooking oils than any other large nation, and they have the most heart disease! Look it up, its called the “Israeli Paradox”

    @lumberjak1984 The olive oil he uses is cold pressed, which means its ok. The vegetable oil is made using heat which makes it go bad.
