@marinerheart
You are at a higher risk of heart disease because of your dads early onset of coronary artery disease. When it comes to heart disease risk factors, you have factors in your control and factor out of your control. continue…

@marinerheart
A family hx of early onset heart disease (less 55 for men or less 65 for women) is out of your control, so don’t focus on it; just control that which you can such as being physically active, not smoking, preventing or controlling diabetes, preventing or controlling high blood pressure and so on. I like to tell people that ‘genes’ load the gun but your lifestyle pulls the trigger.

It could have been designed a whole lot better.. It’s a very small pump considering the work it has to do. It has narrow arteries and prone to disease…i.e you have to watch what you eat and exercise regulary otherwise it will probably clog up.

Fondest Hellos, I realize your cardiac emphasis is more on atherosclerosis than on dysautonomia/EPS/Tilt Test, but we, the YT Community of people with dysautonomia would like to know what you can tell us about this disease. Please peruse my Favs also, to get global pulse on this illness.
Highest Personal Regards,

The fact that you’re so young certainly works to your advantage, and it sounds like you’re pretty healthy. The most important things for you to do right now is: get regular exercise, quit chewing tobacco (the risk of heart disease and mouth cancer is high), watch your weight, manage the stress in your life, and generally live a healthy lifestyle.
May 25th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
So, if I’m male then I’m automatically prone to this disease??? YIKES ARE U SERIOUSE? I mean, I’m only 23 and I stay active. But sometimes when I get stressed I feel a smal bit of heart pain and I chew tobacco. Now on the upside I do strengthen my heart with regular frequent cardio exercise…
So will I have somethin to worry about when I get older?

Yolly,
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Please forward it to anyone you think could benefit from it.
We’re all more likely to deal with this condition than any other, so we must be informed about it.
May 25th, 2010 at 1:51 pm
Dr. Brown I was able to watch 2 out of the 3 videos so far and I think that they are well done. The information was very well put together and in simple terms.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad you got something out of this video.
Stay tuned for upcoming videos!
