Graves’ Disease (part 1 of 2)

Some good websites: www.ngdf.org If you want to really understand your disease, join your local/national Graves disease/thyroid disease association and engage in its online forum. The largest English forum about Graves’ disease is this one from the (American) National Graves Disease Foundation. It is monitored by experienced people, which is a good thing, ’cause their is a lot of bad ‘disinformation’ flying around on the internet. www.mythyroid.com Very qualitative and nuanced information. www.thyroid.org.au Again, very good, but full access requires a small membership fee. gravesdiseasetimbennie.com The third section is a compilation of (a lot of) scientific extracts. www.thyroidmanager.org Thyroid disease related information directed at professionals, some very detailed sections about Graves disease. www.uptodate.com e-medicum.com Two articles about the use of anithyroid drugs. www.thyroid.org cpmcnet.columbia.edu www.endocrineweb.com Information about thyroid surgery. www.thyroid.org Follow the newest publications on thyroid disease via this montly bulletin directed at patients. medicalnewstoday.healthology.com Gail Devers talks about her battle with graves disease. .

@yorkiedog89 What happens during your heat intolerance episodes? I USUALLY feel very uncomfortable, like I’m being suffocated. However, twice it was so bad I got vertigo, very hard and rapid heart beats, extreme nausea and gastrointestinal pain, as well as shaking, sweating, and hyperventilating. Just wondering if others experience the same thing. Those two episodes only happened when I put the shower on too hot.

i’ve got graves since 2001 and i’m going into surgeryto have some removed . and because they can’t tell how much of the thyroid has to be removed theyll give me a radioiodine treatment if necessary . and this disease can really bring you down .and can be life threatning if you dont take you meds.

Thank you X millions for your text & video. I often feel like giving up on ever feeling “normal” & fear I’ll go over the edge & end it all if I don’t get help. 15 yrs on GD drugs & going to a new Endo soon to try again. Fear RAI & removal so I keep on keeping on but my body/mind is wearing out from GD.

Thank you for putting together such a helpful collage of symbols and music that so clearly conveys the subtle and frightening realities of Graves thyroid disease. I am glad to learn that you are on the mend and making such a large quantity of information available to those patients who are still working through this problem. Best regards.
